101 in 1001 days – Eat at EVO

#44.  Eat at EVO.

EVO was much different than I expected.  We arrived at a good time, because there were many open tables.

I tried turnips. Turnips.  I find it so odd when I realize how many veggies I’ve never tasted.

I’m glad I didn’t cook turnips, to try them.  I don’t know that I like them, but I didn’t hate them.

These were served with a yummy aioli, which is a fancy name for garlic mayo.

Turnips are a twist of tastes of squash and cauliflower.  I thought Rutabaga tasted like cauliflower, too. Hmm.  I do like cauliflower.

There was only one thing to order, at EVO. Its the only thing I hear roll off everyone’s tongue, as they talk about EVO.

Trifecta.  We added roasted garlic, because it just seemed like the right thing to do.

Think bacon, sausage with fennel, and pepperoni on thin fresh bread.

Very good.

(Last week, I managed to hem one fabric napkin. (#27)  My sewing machine is much smarter than I am, and although I’d call this hem 3/4th success, I did do one.)

101 in 1001 days – Poe’s and Jack’s (#3 2/11)

Two words.. French Fries.

When I read about “The Best Fries in Charleston,” I was ready to sink my teeth into this experiment. (I can’t find the page I read about this on, on TheDigitel.com.)

My idea of fries is really different..  I’m Fry Snobby, in a Five Guys kind of way. Basically, that means I can cook them. ;)

A French Fry Odyssey?  Absolutely!  I’m there.

So, I edited #3 on my list.

With my reformatted insides, I’m a “just a few french fries kind of girl” now.

At Poe’s, (their menu, online, lies, btw) there were three options..

  • French Fries
  • French Fries with Bacon, Green Onion, and Cheddar Cheese
  • French Fries with Chili and Cheddar Cheese

It was hard to not be tempted when Elisa mentioned the special burger, of the day, had “Chipotle” in the description. OH Chipotle!

We opted for the bacon.

The flavors were excellent, together.  The bacon was delightful.  The fries?  On a scale of 1-10, I’d give them a 5 or 6.  They were good.  They were salty, in a good way.  They were filling.  They just weren’t my type of French Fries.

Off we went to Jack’s..

jacksdogs

Isn’t that door handle cute?  Jack’s reminded me, instantly, of some place Guy would appreciate.

I ordered a Corn Dog.  Now, I go to The Flowertown Festival, in Azalea Park, every year for Jenny’s Fudge and a corn dog.  I love corn dogs.

My corn dog was perfect!  Crispy.. Crunchy.. Sweet.. Savory.. PERFECT!

The fries?  Ehhh..  I didn’t like them, at all.  No flavor.  And maybe I’m just not a skinny-fry kind of girl?? :)

I’m, definitely, going back for more dogs, though.

Up next?  No idea.. probably the sweet potato fries at Sesame.

#11 Read Bible Books Not in LDS Scriptures

I wasn’t sure how to word this goal.. I don’t consider them lost books.. or missing books.. just “other books I want to read..”

Here’s what I can find, to start:

“Anagiginoskomena” (worthy to read)

  • Septuagint
  1. 3 Maccabees
  2. 1 Esdras
  3. Baruch (sep from Jeremiah)
  • Psalm 151
  • Prayer of Manasses
  • 4 Maccabees
  • 2 Esdras (Slavonic)
  • Book of Enoch (Jude 1:14-15)
  • Book of Jubilees
  • Apocrypha
  • Pseudepigrapha
  • Book of Odes
Encore

I’m starting this over, to try to get a grip and organize the goal process, again.

I’m encouraging my friends to do their own 101.  This “new” is to start them. If I must start over, so you will do this, with me..  okay! I’m there…

Oh, and we have a new “look.”  Like it?

:)
